SANDY PATTY & PEABO PRYSON - It's Christmas (1996) - Cassette Tape

This is the 1996 Hallmark Christmas Album that features four new Sandi solos ("The First Noel", "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel", "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" and "It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas"), four Peabo Bryson solos ("Silent Night", What Child is This?", "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" and "The Christmas Song") and two Sandi/Peabo duets ("How Great Our Joy!" and Go, Tell it on the Mountain").
The Sandi set attempts to recreate the signature Sandi inspirational sound on her solos. Unfortunately, the arrangements on "The First Noel" and "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" are more labored than fiery but Sandi brings them off in her always superb manner. "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing!" is a splendid arrangement with an effective harpsicord lead instrument. The Peabo/Sandi duets never quite jell but the performances are joyful.
Peabo Bryon offers a brilliant vocal on "Sweet Little Jesus Boy".
Unfortunately, the sound on all of the selections seems a bit muted and muddy which hurts the overall project.
There is also a 1992 Hallmark Christmas album that starred Sandi Patty. Several of the selections from that album appeared again in the 1995 Sandi album "O Holy Night!" Tape in very good condition.
